HINDI
According to the 2016 Census, about 160,000 Australians speak Hindi. Hindi (हिन्दी) is an Indo-Aryan language spoken mainly in India, and also in Nepal, Singapore and South Africa. There are about 600 million Hindi speakers worldwide, 342 million of whom are native speakers and it is the fourth most-spoken first language in the world. The terms "Hindi" and "Hindu" trace back to Old Persian which derived these names from the Sanskrit name Sindhu (सिन्धु ), referring to the river Indus.
